Siaya: Ad-Hoc Committee Recommends Impeachment Of DG William Oduol

The special committee established by the Siaya County Assembly to investigate the grounds for the motion to remove Deputy Governor William Oduol from office has recommended that he (Oduol) be impeached.

The committee found the allegations of gross violation of the constitution and other laws to be substantiated in its report, which was tabled on the House floor on Thursday by Chairman Francis Otiato.

It also stated that the allegations of bid rigging and interference with procurement processes had been proven.

Concerning allegations of abuse of office and gross misconduct, the committee stated that it established that claims of bulldozing officers to renovate the Deputy Governor’s office using approved budgetary provisions were proven and thus substantiated.

The committee stated that the allegations of misuse of public resources and bullying were proven and thus substantiated.

The Otiato-led team also stated that it found the allegations levelled against the embattled DG of misleading the public by providing false information to be true.

After giving the deputy governor an opportunity to be heard, the committee recommended that he be impeached by the County Assembly.

The House is currently debating the report.
