The Employment and Labor Court has barred the Nairobi county assembly from discussing an impeachment motion against Governor Mike Sonko, pending an inter-parties hearing. – By Gerald Gekara
In the ruling delivered by Justice Nzioka Makau, an order by Justice Byram Ogaya to stop any further impeachment motions against the governor argued that the injunctive conservatory orders are still in place.
The ruling comes a day after a temporary arrest that was condemned by Nairobi leadership.
Sonko was meeting Nairobi MCAs when the police surrounded the venue and dispersed the leaders.
The embattled governor is facing an impeachment motion that was tabled by Minority Leader Michael Ogada who submitted signatures of 86 MCAs who had endorsed the plan.
However, 82 MCAs denied appending their signatures accusing Ogada of forgery.
