Kitui Bishop Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Mwongela has called on the BBI Taskforce to accommodate the wishes of all Kenyans in imposing constitutional change. – By Gerald Gekara
Mwongela said the constitution cannot be a yes or no issue, but a consensus for all Kenyans.
“We cannot discuss a document that is divisive. Let us go back to the drawing board and come up with a document that is acceptable to all Kenyans”, Mwongela said.
Bishop Joseph Mwongela spoke during the burial of Father Edward Mutia at Mutune, Kitui County.
The Catholic church has been very vocal on the happenings of the Initiative, noting that the report had triggered unneccesary political confrontation.
Echoing these sentiments at a Nairobi hospital, Archbishop Anthony Muheria called on Kenyans and politicians not to sideline the current COVID-19 pandemic while rallyiing for the BBI.
