Fake Investigator Who Threatened Speaker Lusaka With Corruption Charges

The Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act No.3 of 2003 has accused a man with impersonating an investigator.

Victor Mayanja alias Joseph Kinuthia came before Chief Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi of the Milimani Law Courts and rejected the charges. Kinuthia is accused of attempting to extort $100,000 from an investigator and extortion by threats.

The accused begged with the court to be released on fair bond terms through his lawyer Onkendi.

Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka is accused of attempting to extort ksh100,000 from Kinuthia. He denied three counts of corruption, including impersonating an investigator and threatening to extort money.

The court was informed that on March 15, 2014, he pretended to be an investigator working with Ethics and Anti-Corruption on behalf of Kenneth Magelo Lusaka. Mayanja is accused of representing himself as a Corruption Commission investigator with EACC to Haron Keitany on March 20, 2014 at Serova Panafric Hotel in Nairobi County.

He was charged with the third count of threatening to accuse the speaker of corruption on March 15, 2014, within the Republic of Kenya, with the goal to extort ksh100,000 from Lusaka.

The prosecution has stated that they will fight bail terms pending the outcome of the case.

Onkendi did not oppose the request by the prosecution. He was remanded in Kileleshwa police station till September 6, 2021.
