Homa Bay County police have launched an investigation into the gang rape and murder of a 60-year-old woman at her home in Nyangweso village, Rangwe Sub-County, Homa Bay County.
Florence Adhiambo was allegedly raped and strangled by thugs who raided her home on Tuesday night.
Her body was discovered on Wednesday morning by neighbors who became suspicious after discovering her house locked.
According to Koywa assistant chief Kenneth Odero, the woman lived alone.
He said that in preliminary investigations, Florence was gang raped before being murdered.
According to Odero, the thugs ransacked the house after killing the woman.
He stated that Adhiambo had bruises on her neck, indicating that she had been strangled.
The body was taken to the mortuary for a postmortem examination.
