Rigathi Gachagua played the role of an undercover politician for many years. Until President Uhuru Kenyatta joined KANU, became the Local Government Minister.
Uhuru needed a Personal assistant. And so the system, deep state if you like, fished him from the Provincial amninistration and conferred him with the position.
Rigathi’s elder brother Nderitu Gachagua was then a high flying deep pocketed Quantity Surveyor in Mombasa.
He and current Nyeri Senator were fighting over the Mathira seat.

Rigathi warmed his way to Uhuru’s political heart. And also his money and power.
At the vantage position of PA to the increasing powerful Minister Uhuru, Gachagua began to build a financial and political base that he has used to armtwist DP Ruto to become the running mate.
Gachagua and the President were long term allies. Until Rigathi decided to elope with Ruto in pursuit of fresh politica power.
The President had other ideas. And so Rigathi elected to take off with the embattled DP.
He and Ruto are age mates. At 57, he is at the prime of his politics. And age.
He will be hoping to deliver GEMA to Kenya Kwanza.
Rigathi is considered as one of the special District officers appointed by President Moi to spy on his ministers.
For that reason, he got strategic postings as PA to former head of civil service Professor Mbithi.
As a DO in Laikipia, Rigathi was tasked with the role of keeping tabs on GG Kariuki and Gibuini.
He is a ruthless and smooth operator. As a strategist for Ruto, Rigathi will be an asset.
Both Ruto and Rigathi are protestants.
Should they win, it will be the first time in the history of Kenya that the Catholic Church will not be represented at the Presidency.
Jomo Kenyatta was a Catholic. His deputies were from AIC or Anglican.
Moi was an AIC adherent. His deputies were Catholics.
Uhuru Kenyatta is a Catholic. Ruto is an AIC elder.
