Manchester City reached the FA Cup semi finals by beating Everton in a tight game at Goodison Park. – By Madellene Kalunda.

City keep their quadruple hopes alive going into next week’s international break, with Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton keeping the Blues’ frustrated until the last ten minutes.

Pep guardiola had a strong side, with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, Ilkay Gundogan and Aymeric Laporte in the starting XI.

A game of little chances took until the 83rd minute to come alive, when Ilkay Gundgan headed home, before substitute Kevin De Bruyne confirmed the win on 90 minutes.

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti was gracious in defeat after seeing his side lose out to Manchester City, labelling the Premier League leaders as the “best team in the world.”

The Cityzens already booked passage to the Champions League last eight with victory over Borussia Monchengladbach, with another Bundesliga club awaiting in the quarters in the shape of Borussia Dortmund.

In April, meanwhile, they will take on Tottenham in the Carabao Cup final as they look to take the title for a fourth straight year.

Southampton Beat Bournemouth To Advance To Semi-finals

Moussa Djenepo ended his 20-game goal drought in Southampton’s 3-0 victory over Bournemouth in Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final meeting.

The 22-year-old was handed his 24th appearance of the season and made the most of the opportunity to end his unimpressive spell in front of goal.

Djenepo started the encounter, forming a four-man midfield along with Ibrahima Diallo, James Ward-Prowse and Stuart Armstrong, and opened the scoring in the 37th minute for Southampton after receiving a fine assist from Nathan Redmond.

The Mali international therefore ended his goal drought having last found the back of the net in a Premier League game against West Bromwich Albion in October.

Redmond then bagged a goal of his own moments before the half-time break after benefitting from Stuart Armstrong’s assist.

Djenepo featured for 85 minutes before making ways for Nigerian midfielder Nathan Tella while Ghana’s Mohammed Salisu was a 76th-minute substitute.

Djenepo has now scored two goals for Southampton this season and will hope to be more consistent for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men moving forward.
