Around ten cartons of various medications and equipment totalling 2 million shillings were found during a Pharmacy and Poisons Board operation in Mtwapa, Mombasa.

According to Mr. Dennis Otieno, head of the PPB’s Criminal Investigations and Enforcement Unit, there had been illicit activities at the pharmacy.

The products, including government medications, were kept in a storage facility at the back of the business, investigations are still ongoing.

Several people who were discovered to be practising unlawfully have been apprehended thus far in the country’s ongoing crackdown on unlicensed pharmaceutical stores.

The mission of the operation, which is being carried out by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board in partnership with the National Police Service, is to root out quacks and unlicensed pharmacists who are selling medicinal supplies to unwary Kenyans.
