Kenya’s happiness index has slipped one index point as the country struggles with a difficult economic condition.

According to the World Happiness Report 2022, the happiness rating of Kenyans is 4.543 out of 10 points, a decrease from previous years.

The rate in 2020 was 4.607 points, and the degree of enjoyment in 2019 was 4.583 points.

However, according to the report, the country moved up two places from 121 to 119 out of the 150 countries surveyed.

This indicates that, on a global scale, Kenyans are among the third of countries whose population have the lowest levels of happiness, with only 31 countries topping the list.

People’s trust in government and institutions, poverty, and conflicts are among the elements considered by the World Happiness Report in evaluating levels of happiness.

“The findings demonstrate that communities with high levels of trust are happier and more resilient in facing a wide range of crises,” the report stated.

In 2021 the low level of happiness was as a result of various issues such as COVID-19 pandemic and increased corruption.
