KFS Leads Countrywide Tree Planting Sessions

KFS has led tree planting activities around the country, to restore forest cover in Kenya.

In the Nyanza Conservancy where 11,800 mixed tree seedlings were planted at Wire forest station, Homa Bay County in partnership with Equity Bank.

The same partnership also led to the planting of 1,800 Casuarina equisetifolia at Rachuonyo County Hospital. A thousand tree seedlings were also planted at Ligongo Hills within Gembe forest station in partnership with Gembe CFA,

In Kakamega County, KFS partnered with KALRO to plant 6,200 trees (Graville robusta, Eucalyptus grandis, Bamboo etc) at the Organisation’s farm in the County. This was also in partnership with KEFRI, Equity and KCB banks, community members and representatives from the County Government.

In Tana River County the Service partnered with the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government, Nature Kenya and members of Onkolde CFA in planting 3,000 drought resistant tree seedlings (Acacia polyacantha, Acacia elatoir) at Onkolde forest station.

In Busia County, KFS partnered with Ecogreen and members of the public from Sio and planted 2,500 mixed tree species at Sio Wetland area. In Kakamega, 950 tree seedlings were planted at Kakamega and Musa Primary Schools. The exercise was conducted in partnership with the Kakamega Girl Guides Association. 1,500 tree seedlings were also planted at Akide Primary School within the County.

In Bungoma County, KFS led the planting of 5,000 trees at Sangalo Technical and Vocational Training Institute. The exercise was in partnership with Equity Bank and the County Government.

KFS also planted 300 assorted tree seedlings in partnership with Taita Taveta County Government, and Mwangea Women Group at Mwangea hill in Voi.

A further 4,500 seedlings were planted at the Holili One Stop Border Post. 100 tree seedlings were also planted at the St. John’s Primary School in collaboration with Chani Kiwiti Scouts group.

KFS also partnered with Nature Kenya and youth from the county to plant 4,500 seedlings at the Eden Biodiversity Youth Organization site in Kipini. 1,600 tree seedlings were also planted at Hewani area within the county in collaboration with Hewani CFA

In Trans Nzoia County, 5000 tree seedlings were planted at the Kitale Museum in partnership with National Museums of Kenya, KWS, and Kibali Afrika among others.

The North Eastern Conservancy in Mandera County planted 200 Azadrichta indica at the Mandera KFS demonstration site. This was in partnership with community members benefitting from a training exercise.
