A number of families enjoying the ‘5-day weekend’ at a Naivasha hotel are counting losses after an Acacia tree crashed their cars.

In an incident that occurred last evening on Sunday May 1 at Camp Carnelley’s on Moi South Lake Road, one person was injured and five cars were damaged.

The injured person was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Confirming the incident, Naivasha sub-county Deputy Commissioner Mutua Kisilu stated that the collapse was caused by strong winds during the downpour.

“I was having a meal with my family in the hotel when we heard a loud sound of something falling on the ground and on checking we found that an acacia tree had crushed some cars,” one of the visitor, John Muturi, said.

Currently, heavy rains and strong winds are battering the town of Naivasha and its environs.
