Sakaja Gaining Against Azimio in Nairobi Race

If elections were held today, Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja would win the gubernatorial race by 23 per cent of the total votes cast.

According to Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA) Research’s April 2022 opinion polls, Polycarp Igathe is the second at 15 per cent, Richard Ngatia at 3 per cent, Anne Kananu at 1 per cent and Agnes Kagure at 1 per cent.

However, three months before the election, 53 percent of Nairobi residents are still undecided on their preferred gubernatorial candidate.

The poll also showed ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna led the race for the Nairobi senatorial seat with 19 percent support followed by Kenya Kwanza’s Bishop Margaret Wanjiru who got 6 percent.

Maina Kamanda is a distant third with 1 percent while other candidates share 1 percent. 

However, a whooping 73 percent are undecided.
