ICT CS Owalo Impersonator Charged In Court

Carols Dickens Otieno, the suspect, is accused of acquiring money unlawfully from unsuspecting Kenyans while posing as CS Owalo on social media.

A student who reportedly impersonated ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo has been charged at Makadara law court.

Carols Dickens Otieno, the suspect, is accused of acquiring money unlawfully from unsuspecting Kenyans while posing as CS Owalo on social media.

He is also facing accusations for dealing with stolen property after police discovered him with an unaccounted-for mobile phone.

According to the CS who reported the incident to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the 24-year-old suspect, a varsity student, was scamming his victims by using his photographs on several social media accounts.

He enticed his victims with the promise of high-paying government employment in exchange for upfront payments.

The investigators tracked him down to his residence in Tassia, Embakasi, Nairobi county, where he was arrested.

The suspect denied the accusations in court before principle magistrate Hellen Okwani and was freed on a bond of Kes 100,000.

The suspect, through his lawyer, requested that the police return his car and other confiscated items.
