Musalia Mudavadi Calls For Dialogue After BBI Ruling

Musalia Mudavadi, the leader of the Amani National Congress, has now stated that the country has to engage in conversation in order to expedite the execution of some of the problems after the BBI was declared unlawful by the High Court. – By Gerald Gekara.

Mudavadi claims it will be difficult to get some of the important reforms recommended in the Bill available in time for the election due to constitutional timelines.

“The agenda of this dialogue should be to relook at the Bill and identify those issues like restructuring of IEBC to make it fit for the purpose, which are otherwise good for our nation and do not require a national referendum,” he said.

Mudavadi says the BBI process provided a roadmap to healing the nation and any Kenyan should support it.

“Our nation needs healing from extremely corrosive politics that have dodged the country,” he added

The Building Bridges Initiative suffered a significant setback on Thursday, when it was declared null and void by the High Court of Kenya.

In their determination, judges Jairus Ngaah, George Odunga, Teresia Matheka Joel Ngugi, and Chacha Mwita further ruled that “The president overstretched his powers when he proposed amendments to the constitution outside his clear mandate.”
