Trump’s triumphant return to the White House criticized

US President Donald Trump Corona

President Donald Trump staged a bizarre White House comeback that included an irresponsible mask removal and a reckless pronouncement there is nothing to fear from Covid-19.

“I knew there’s danger to it but I had to do it,” Trump says in a strange campaign video whipped up by aides within an hour of his return to the White House, in which the President framed himself as a warrior who took on the virus and won.

Trump said in a tweet that he “felt better than he did 20 years ago” and showed no sign that his brush with a serious disease had caused him to rethink his previous messaging.

In a poll held after Trump’s diagnosis, 69% of those asked said they trusted little of what they heard from the White House about the President’s health.

Sean Conley said that though Trump was in the uncharted territory following the rare administration of several experimental medications, his clinical team agreed that he could go home to be monitored by the White House medical unit.

COVID-19 | Time

Conley’s briefing appeared at several points to support Trump’s political narrative, as when he declared “he’s back” and that the President was “holding court” and had been a “phenomenal patient.”

He justified not sharing information that could potentially be politically damaging to Trump — such as details of his lung function and whether he had pneumonia — on privacy grounds.

The selective disclosures about Trump’s health during the briefing mirrored the awkward display of his return from the hospital as another moment once considered separate from politics.

Iria: No political rallies in Murang’a without my permission

Murang'a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria

Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria has declared that no political meetings will be held without his express approval.

Iria, who issued his directive in a document named ‘Murang’a County declaration of 05/10/2020’, said that only the President will be exempted.

He went on to further warn that any fundraisers will be officiated by himself, and/or his Senator Irungu Kang’ata.

“All political meetings, fundraisers involving outsiders shall have one uniform master of ceremony who will be Governor Mwangi Wa Iria, and in his absence, Senator Irungu Kang’ata or Woman representative Sabina Chege.”

The future presidential hopeful cited illicit relations between legislators Ndindi Nyoro and their rivals have a history of violence in Murang’a.

“There is a history of political violence by two members of Parliament from Murang’a County, Hon Ndindi Nyoro and Hon Alice Wahome. Henceforth, All development projects by the National Government shall be conducted in one central office that shall be opened in Kandara Constituency and Kiharu Constituency respectively by Governor Mwangi Wa Iria,” read the declaration.

The remarks come hardly a day after violence rocked the Kenol area in Murang’a county, where Deputy President William Ruto was invited to a church fundraiser.

Two people died in the violent clashes.

Leaders; Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and his counterpart were summoned by the DCI, to assist police officers in investigations regarding the planned violence.

Dongo Kundu residents appeal to Uhuru over land

Residents of Dongo Kundu in Kwale are demanding the arrest of land grabbers said to have been compensated in an ongoing road project.

They have now appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene in the row which they claim is getting out of hand. The residents held a demonstration on Monday to press for the arrest of the grabbers. The project is domiciled in Magarini and Kinango constituencies.

They accused the National Lznd Commision(NLC) of applying double standards. The area has been acquired by the Government for the construction of a bridge across the Indian Ocean to aid movement of vehicles.

It was launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta in October 2019. The residents claim that those who purchased land in the area are being favored. They claim that private land grabbers have already been paid…and at inflated rates.

Former staff slams Klopp for ‘taking all the media credit’

Liverpool’s former assistant manager Zeljko Buvac has mocked the Liverpool boss, claiming he did all the work but the charismatic Klopp took all the credit.

Klopp and Buvac previously had a successful working relationship at Mainz, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool – Jurgen Klopp once dubbing Buvac as “The Brain” – before the No.2 left Anfield in April 2018.

Buvac has now criticised Klopp for being little more than a media mouthpiece, claiming that all the actual coaching and management of the players is done by his backroom staff.

In an interview on YouTube – which has since been removed from the platform – with Russian journalist Nobel Arustamyan, Buvac said: “I did the coaching job, with the exception of the interviews.

“It felt like I’ve been the manager for all those 17 years. I had all the functions and tried to influence my team as much as I could to help them succeed, but I didn’t need that kind of attention.”

Buvac, who is currently sporting director of Russian first division club Dynamo Moscow, admitted that he preferred to work in the background and was not interested in seeking a No.1 role at any club.

He said: “At the moment I don’t want to be a coach. When Barcelona calls me I will think about it, otherwise not.

“You say I’m here just to stay occupied and wait for a better chance, but if you knew what kind of offers I had rejected during the pause in my career, you wouldn’t have said that. I won’t tell you which clubs.”

When asked if he had congratulated Klopp on winning the league title – Liverpool’s first for 30 years – in the summer, Buvac replied: “I didn’t. I was happy for Liverpool, the fans and the players.”

Sudan rebel groups sign peace pact to end decades of war

Sudan’s government and rebel groups struck a historic peace deal to end decades of war in which hundreds of thousands died.

Ululations and cheers rang out as one by one, representatives from the transitional government and rebel groups signed the deal, a year after the peace talks began.

“Today we have reached a peace agreement. We are happy. We have finished the mission,” Tut Gatluak, head of the South Sudanese mediating team said shortly before the signing took place.

Guarantors of the deal from Chad, Qatar, Egypt, the African Union, European Union and United Nations also put their names to the agreement.

Sudanese paramilitary commander Mohamed Hamdan Daglo signed the deal on behalf of Khartoum.

A representative of the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) and others from the groups making up the coalition, also signed.

The SRF comprises rebel groups from the war-ravaged western Darfur region, as well as the southern states of Blue Nile and South Kordofan.

The peace agreement covers a number of tricky issues, from land ownership, reparations and compensation, to wealth and power sharing and the return of refugees and internally displaced people.

Under the deal, SRF fighters are to be slowly incorporated into joint units with government security forces.

Two other well-established rebel groups did not sign, reflecting the challenges still facing the peace process.

DCI cracks whip on Ruto allies over Murang’a clashes

ndindi nyoro

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have summoned Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and Kandara legislator Alice Wahome over Sunday’s chaos in Murang’a County that has so far left 2 people.

DCI has directed the duo who were part of the fundraiser, to appear before their offices in Nyeri and assist police with investigations.

A clash between rival groups ended the lives of two protesters, at Kenol, Murang’a county where DP Ruto was to hold a fundraiser and later address a rally at the town.

Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai had on Sunday evening ordered for the immediate arrest of the two MPs accusing them of mobilizing goons to cause mayhem.

Ndindi Nyoro dared the IG Mutyambai to apologize to Kenyans over the debacle.

“You have the systems to find out whoever did this crime. Delegate resources and find out who ferried the youth, and who directed Police to lob teargas into the church.” Nyoro said in a press briefing.
