National-Assembly

Parliament Speaker Justin Muturi has announced new orders in line with the flattening curve of the coronavirus.

Parliament House will now host 112 members of parliament, up from the 60 that were earlier meeting.

Speaker Muturi also barred all visitors from Parliament. Only people appearing before Committees on various matters will be allowed to access the building.

Legislators who double up as committee members will now be able to accommodate 15, as opposed to 10 according to earlier directives.

The Muslim prayer room, has however been allowed to accommodate only 9 congregants; 6 males and 3 females.

Speaker Muturi also urged Parliamentarians to comply with health directives and avoid breaking rules imposed by the ministry.

“I encourage Members not to drop the guard with regard to observing Covid-19 prevention protocols. Every one of us is duty-bound to take necessary measures towards flattening the curve of Covid-19 infections so as to hasten return to normalcy.” Speaker Muturi concluded.
