Widow Of Taxi Driver Patrick Muiruri Pleads With Court Not To Grant Bail To Suspected Killers

Grace Muiruri, widow of late Eldoret taxi driver Patrick Muiruri, whose corpse was discovered at a coffee estate in Chepsonoi, Nandi County, pleaded with the Eldoret court not to release to the two accused persons in the murder.

Grace highlighted her fears, claiming that the release of the two suspects, Peter Wanjala and Dan Kibet, represented a serious threat to her life as a crucial witness.

She stressed her closeness with the accused, fearing consequences if they were released.

Appearing before Principal Magistrate Cherono Kese, Investigating Officer Michael Lemayian recounted the challenges faced in apprehending the first accused, Samuel Mageto.

He highlighted the frustrating efforts due to influences by some of the accused collaborating with individuals not before the court, hindering the investigation.

Principal Magistrate Cherono, taking cognizance of the gravity of the situation, ordered that the hearing of the bail case be scheduled for February 2024.
