Magoha Asks Ruto To Ban Pornographic Sites

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has urged President William Ruto’s government to ban pornographic websites in Kenya.

Speaking during the official opening ceremony of the Kenya Music Festival, which took place in Kisumu, CS Magoha remarked that despite the fact that the Internet has proven to be useful, the drawbacks of the internet need to also be addressed.

“In as much as we enjoy the freedom of everything including the internet, the pornographic sites centres must be blocked as soon as yesterday,” Magoha added.

Magoha said the new administration should prioritise policies aimed at protecting the innocence of the minors.

“My main concern as I exit the Basic Education sector is that a decision will have to be made by this government or the next government to block the pornographic sites,” he added.

Magoha asserted that he is unconcerned about being referred to as a dictator because of his opposition to websites that encourage explicit content.

“When I mentioned this they said no, you are a dictator but as far as pornography is concerned I want to remain as dictator in everyone’s mind,” he said.

The Education Cabinet Secretary also called for Kenyans to back his proposal to restrict sites that stream adult content to protect youngsters.

According to CS Magoha, exercising parental control over a child’s access to the internet is not an act of dictatorship but of responsibility.
