A milk processing plant owned by Sameer Agriculture and Livestock Limited has been closed for failing to comply with National Environmental Management Authorities’ waste disposal regulations.
NEMA boss, Mamo B. Mamo who accompanied police officers to the facility, cited reasons that Daima Milk processing plant was directing its waste towards Nairobi River.
The operations manager at the Daima plant in Industrial Area was also taken into custody for questioning.
Authorities from the government, Nairobi County and Environmental agency NEMA, have been holding joint operations to clean up Nairobi River and hitting hard on companies, estates and buildings built close to the river.
