Kenyans have applauded the government and its contractor China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) for the timely solution to the congested ferry crossing.

Locals who moved to the area to take advantage of the boom in traffic, have expressed confidence that the bridge will boost their fortunes as well as uplift their quality of life.

The floating bridge serves as a temporary solution to avoid crowding at the Likoni ferry boats, operated by the Kenya Ferry Services.

The sea link, the first of its kind in East Africa, will take up most of the foot traffic across the Kilindini Channel by linking Liwatoni on Mombasa island with Ras Bofu in Likoni mainland.
