Nairobi Expressway will steer clear of Belle vue, Nyayo footbridges

All footbridges on the path of the Nairobi Express Way will be left intact.

Kenya National Highways Authority and China Road and Bridge technocrats have redesigned the project to ensure the bridges are left intact. This is to avoid inconvenience to thousands of Nairobi who use the infrastructure on a daily basis.

Also spared is the iconic University of Nairobi tunnels that connects the halls of residence and lecturer halls.

KeNHA Director General Peter Mundinia said the footbridges are important for pedestrian traffic, hence the need to spare them.
The Nairobi Express Way is elevated from Nexgen Mall to James Gichuru.

” The bellevue footbridge will not be removed to accommodate the project. It will remain. Even the Nyayo Stadium bridge will remain intact”, Mundinia said.

The express way is four metres above the elevation of the foot bridges. It has not affected the engineering design and stability of the project.
